The Whispering Child

In the quiet town of Elmswood, the old Harper house had long been a subject of whispers and rumors. It was a place where shadows seemed to linger even in the brightest daylight. When the Thompson family moved in, they thought it was just an old house with a bit of history. But they were wrong.

The first night, everything seemed normal. The kids, Emily and Jake, played in the yard, and their parents, Sarah and Mark, unpacked boxes. But as the sun set, the atmosphere changed. Emily, who was usually talkative, became quiet and distant. Her eyes, once bright and curious, now seemed to hold a darkness that wasn¡¯t there before.

The next morning, Sarah found Emily sitting in the corner of her room, staring at the wall. When she called out to her daughter, Emily turned and spoke in a voice that was not her own. ¡°They are coming,¡± she said, her eyes rolling back into her head. Sarah¡¯s heart raced as she called for Mark, but by the time he arrived, Emily was back to her usual self, with no memory of what had happened.

Things escalated quickly. Jake began to act strangely too, often found talking to an invisible friend in the basement. One night, Mark heard him whispering, ¡°I will set you free.¡± When Mark confronted him, Jake¡¯s eyes turned cold, and he said, ¡°You don¡¯t understand. They need me.¡±

The family tried to ignore it, hoping it was just a phase. But the whispers grew louder, and the shadows darker. One evening, as the family sat down for dinner, Emily suddenly stood up and walked to the center of the room. She levitated, her body twisting unnaturally. Mark and Sarah screamed, but Emily¡¯s voice boomed through the room, ¡°Leave this place or face the wrath of those who dwell here.¡±

Terrified, the Thompsons called the police, who arrived to find the children acting normally again. But the officers couldn¡¯t shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong. As they left, one officer turned back and whispered to Mark, ¡°Get out of this house. Now.¡±

The next day, the family packed their bags and left the Harper house, never to return. But the whispers followed them, a reminder that some things are never truly left behind.
